Leaving the Airport

We met at Laura's house on Friday morning and had a delicious send-off waffle breakfast and then we all drove over to the airport.

We got there in time so after they got their bags checked in, we had time for a couple rounds of Rook in honor of my mom.  She is always wanting to hold a "Rook Tournament" at every family gathering.

Here are the missionaries ready to head towards their gate.
We needed lots of last-minute photos.  These grandkids are sure going to miss their teasing grandpa.

These kids followed their grandpa as long as possible.  We hope they always follow in his footsteps like this.

We all started to sing "God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again" but we could hardly sing because all of us started to cry so much.  This tender picture of my dad expresses how all of us were feeling.

We took one last group photo before they headed through security and we all had to wipe our tears away.
They waved to us and we stayed in the hallway until we could no longer see them.  My mom kept turning around every few minutes and waving to us with both arms.  We didn't know if we should laugh or cry harder.  They both looked so genuinely happy, but we are going to miss them so much.
They have sacrificed so much to serve and they are setting a wonderful example for many people.  My mom was even specifically blessed when she was set apart that her grandchildren would be blessed because of her service and that means a lot to all of us.  We can't wait to hear from them once they have arrived in Chile!
